Here’s a good tip for amateur photographers: share & properly tag your photos on Flickr. You may get some cool opportunities for your work!
My buddy Joe invited me to a party at his buddy’s place in the Sunset District in San Francisco. I brought my camera & photographed the party, then uploaded the stuff to Flickr. More than a year after, I was messaged by magazine editor Jaclyn Binder & was asked if my photo can be used in 7×7 Magazine. This magazine—named for the square miles of San Francisco—publishes all things related to the City. My work was to be featured in a party spread for SF parties that are posted on Flickr. Quite appropriate.
My name is even published in the spine of the magazine, printed for posterity:
Even for such a small space, it’s a huge honor. It’s a totally hip magazine!
